Okay friends, week two of my Project Management class. I am so excited to be learning a new discipline that will enhance my management consulting career. In fact, I recently learned that 25% of the GNP consists of projects. Wow! Project Management is a growing profession with opportunities abound! However, as in any profession, only the experts reach the top-level positions. One must exemplify perseverance, tenacity, hard work, and have a little luck. Nonetheless, no matter what professional endeavor you select, the concepts and principles of Project Management apply. Lesson #1 (when planning a project) "always plan the work, and work the plan." The operative word...PLAN! I ask the question: "Are you interested in PM?" I am learning that it is a lot of work, so you better have a passion for team building, organizational planning, and critical thinking. I know that it will pay off down the road, but I must admit that having a dynamic team to work with (in graduate school) helps! (lol) *The first team project is due next week. The saga continues...
Check out Josh Nankivel, from pmstudent.com. His video will walk you through the many dimensions of 'how to break into Project Management', and what it takes to be an expert in this dynamic profession. Enjoy!
