In modern democracies, one is "innocent until proven guilty," which is a phrase of English lawyer, Sir William Garrow. However, as I watch Republican front runner Herman Cain's sexual harassment allegations, unfold in the media, it has one thinking, "disgraceful politics and journalism as usual; here we go again!" Notwithstanding, I am not a Herman Cain surrogate, but it is uncomfortable to watch the media and other Republican's, rush to judgement and unfairly accuse this man without all the facts. After all, I can remember how uncomfortable it was to watch the media tear down President Obama's preacher, and subsequently, the President throw him under the bus. I ask the question: "Is Cain(able)...to withstand the dirty political tactics?" Time will tell.
In the mean time, a great read that I recently could not stop reading is Kathleen Hall Jamieson's "Dirty Politics." It is a fascinating read that sheds light on the current political environment. Enjoy!
