Finally, a voice from the Democratic elected officials! |
The Tea party seeks action vs. inaction, and inaction for the status quo Republican can mean trouble. As such, I am proud to see the Congressional Black Caucus speak out against the unemployment rate in the African American community. Hurray, it is about time! After all, let us not forget that African Americans elected these politicians to do their bidding in Washington, DC., and when the conversation is about a 15.9% unemployment rate, and in some cases the numbers are larger, the national dialogue is not about black/white/brown/red, but rather green ($$$)! In fact, the Congressional Black Caucus should have spoken out when the Democratic party controlled the House, Senate, and the White house in 2009. Nevertheless, the White House chose to fight (for 2 years) for healthcare reform instead of jobs, and there is talk of repealing the bill. Subsequently, no surprise that we see a growing number of frustrated independent voters in the country (me included). Interestingly enough, independent voters typically support candidates that govern (bi-partisan)in the best interest of the country. Therefore, whether you are a liberal, conservative, or moderate politician, you leverage your chance of re-election by staying true to your constituents. Moreover, the days of ignoring the people’s interests and concerns will prove to be detrimental in the next election cycle because party loyalty, personality, gender, religion, or skin color are no longer factors. I ask the question, “What about the loyalty to maintain a great nation?”
I'm just saying...
