Chicago, Illinois

America has been playing catch-up since 911, and fortunately, signs of recovery reveal a bright future. Conversely, Chicago, a metropolis, to be true is a resilient city, which forecasters predict a constant string of top talent to emerge. In fact, local economists and business executives are excited about the health care and IT industries growth. Subsequently, with the leadership of Mayor-Elect Rahm Emmanuel, his administration will address education, new jobs, job security, the economy, and taxes. Rahm Emmanuel realizes that education is the vessel that provides the most benefit to employers and employees. Indeed, the workforce should pay close attention to hiring, training, and results-oriented educational programs. In addition, the most attractive college majors in demand are management, marketing, or communications. Graduates should possess excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and team work skills. Last, critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to learn new skills provide benefits to both the organization, and the workforce alike.

Most salient issues affecting the workers in Chicago, according to the Chicago Chamber of Commerce: Employees, hiring new employees, training, retention, employment, jobs, unemployment, job security, the economy, health care, health insurance, and benefits.

Clearly, education is the vessel that provides the most benefit to the workforce. For further information, on the research conducted on Chicago’s workforce, check out APCO insight, an international opinion research and consulting firm.
